Free will puzzle

If free will is as illusory as some suggest here - theguardian.com/news/2021/apr/ - how do the philosophers concerned suggest that students might choose not to study the issue?

Hmm

@Ellinas Yes, something in the backend is broken, and the fix is more involved than I have time for.
I suspect this may conclude the experiment.

@Ellinas General feeling, it's not being used, and may not be worth maintaining. The experiment continues for now at least.

We have seen an influx of spammers, or otherwise bad accounts signing up, so I have turned on approval for new accounts.

I’ve been wondering about a question raised elsewhere - is "melancholy" more poetic than "sadness"? The concepts are not the same, but what is the difference?

I suppose I would tend to see melancholy as an innate trait and outlook, whilst sadness is more a reaction to circumstances. Which is the more poetic? Depends on the poem.

@Ellinas All of the regulars are using their usual names, any other names you see are probably folks on other servers, Usernames follow the @username@server format, with a missing server implying a local user.
